After dancing on Broadway in Billy Elliot, Gypsy, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Little Mermaid, Tim Federle is gearing up for his debut novel BETTER NATE THAN EVER to hit bookstores on February 5, 2013. Federle discovered show tunes at a young age and dealt with bullies throughout school. This drove him to flee to New York City as a teenager to follow his dreams. His big move landed him not only the five Broadway shows listed above but additional appearances at Radio City, the Met, and even at a Super Bowl Half-Time Show. Federle is a popular columnist for Apartment Therapy and Huffington Post and has choreographed routines for Sting and James Taylor at Carnegie Hall. With a loaded resume and years in the business, Tim Federle brings us his newest work, BETTER NATE THAN EVER, filled with not only a great story but also strong messages of hope and encouragement for all ages – reminding us to follow our dreams.
About the Book
BETTER NATE THAN EVER is a young adult novel that follows Nate Foster, a small-town teenager who runs away from home to crash an audition for E.T.: The Musical. With the help of his best friend Libby, Nate’s journey takes him to the bright lights of New York City, where he learns the difference between small-town blues and big-time stardom. The novel is inspired by Federle’s experience as an associate choreographer on Broadway's Billy Elliot. He says “While I was on the artistic staff of Billy Elliot, I was struck by how these teenages had to carry such a gigantic show on their shoulders – it was like Hamlet with acne – and then come offstage and be expected to finish their science homework. Ultimately, BETTER NATE THAN EVER is for anyone who knows that the fastest way to star in your own life story is to dream big, no matter how small you are.”
